Nerja Tourist Information !

  This should be your first stop
when visiting Nerja. Located in the town centre by the Balcon de
Europa, it's personnel will gladly help you out (+34 952 52 15 31).

Flamenco shows, theatre, ballet, art exhibitions, Nerja caves international music festival, and it's more traditional festivities such as San Isidro, San Juan, or Virgen del Carmen, among others, Nerja offers much more than sea, sun and sand.

Ask for your tourist information brochure and the activities & cultural events schedule in the  tourist information office to fully enjoy your stay in Nerja.

The Balcon de Europa (Europe's Balcony) is Nerja's meeting point, walk below the Balcony (head down through the arch to the right of the Tourist Information office) for a sight on the sides of the town extending along the cliffsided coast of Nerja and walk a series of sea-formed fun sand pathways across fallen rocks.

Farther east, you'll find Burriana, preferred by tourists due to it's many amenities and bars, from scuba-diving and paddleboats to thai-masseusses. It is well-equipped with free showers, rentable lounges and umbrellas (€5, same cost for 10 minutes or all day ).

Cuevas de Nerja is a MUST VISIT, these limestone caverns featuring the tallest stalactite and stalagmite melted column (32 meters) host they very own Music & Dance Festival held in July and surrounded by well lit chambers & displays of archeological finds.

Frigiliana and Maro, two adjacent towns where one may loose itself in time, their sweet wine, and the splendor of it's mediterranean style townhouses have also became part of Nerja's tour.


Every tuesday & sunday mornings you may enjoy Nerja's street market (flea market/marche au puces) filled with antiquities and all sort of imaginable things. You can also enjoy from horseriding tours, trecking, and even a jeep tour through the nearby mountains to see some of the natural wildlife from the region, or jump in the tourist train which does a 30-minute loop through the town (€3, daily 10:30–22:00, until 24:00 July–Aug) departs from Plaza Cavana and you can get off and catch a later train by using the same ticket.

May: (14-15) San Isidro, follow the Virgin on her way to the Caves of Nerja, where a large festival takes place: live music, Spanish dancing and sangria !
June: (night 23-24) San Juan (St. John) festivities. A magical night with camp-fires on the beach & fireworks
July '09: (21-26)
Nerja Caves Festival, famous national and international artists, beautiful ballet and classical music.
(15) Dance Festival, held at Frigiliana is a night of regional music and dancing.

October: (6-12)
Feria week! fun fair, horse exhibitions & flamenco dancing.

Aside cultural Nerja, there are a dozen of music, dance and language schools to whose courses you may join throughout the year and improve yourself while visiting the place.
