Located about 50km. east from Malaga airport, you can reach Nerja from the airport by taxi (about 60 euros straight to your Nerja hotel or apartment, or minibus 100 euros), or you can take the train to Malaga city, and from there go to the bus station (located behind the train station) and take a bus for about 10 euros the whole trip. Buses in Nerja are located in the entrance of the town, about 50 mtrs. from the BP gas station. A taxi from there to your hotels and holiday apartments for letting in Nerja, or anywhere else, have a flat fee of 6 €.

If you are getting a rental car in Nerja from the airport, just follow the signs N340 (Malaga), then take the "Autovia del Mediterraneo (A7/E-15)" towards Motril-Almeria and after 45 minutes you'll see Nerja's signpost exit 292. Nerja has it's origins on the arabic settlement of Narixa, a name that was given to the town when Andalucia (named Al-Andalus at the time) was still under muslim rule, which gave the whole region it's famous moorish/mediterranean flavour. Narixa (Nerja) stands for "fountain or abundant flow," and this becomes evident on your trip from Malaga to Nerja, once you've left Malaga, you'll find a series of small coastal towns, each with it's unique charm, but none witrh the spirit, vivacity and life sparkle that you'll see and feel once you arrive to Nerja.

With a population of about 25,000 that tops in the summer to an amazing 85,000 it has been awarded almost every year since the 80's with the "Blue Flag" from the EU and the "Town Caring" prize's from the "Junta de Andalucia", assuring both tourists and locals a continous effort from the Town Hall to maintain and improve it's beaches and town.

Nerja's meeting-point would be the Balcon de Europa (just a 15 minute walk from our more distant Nerja apartments, hotels or villas) which was built on the site of a 9th Century Moorish fortress in the heart of the town that has now become a beautiful stroll that takes you right onto the sea (about 30 meters above it.) Here, street performers, puppets, musicians and mimes draw big smiles onto people faces making it today Nerja's terrace of choice.
